I had one of the most relaxing and rejuvinating stays at the picturesque Le Petit Hotel, an initmate boutique hotel on the friendly island of St Martin that offered just what I needed and provided exactly what I wanted…luxury comfort, chic design, wireless service, gorgeous beachfront accommodation while conveniently located near to the best restaurants in the area. I’m now one of the ‘lucky few’ that have experienced the unspoiled shores of Grand Case Bay at Le Petit Hotel, the Mediterranean style jewel by the sea. I’d  reccommend this hotel to anyone visiting St Martin with a desire to experience real French-Caribbean hospitality.

St Maarten is one of the most intriguing destinations in the Caribbean I’ve been to thus far. From the historic mix of Amerindian, African and Dutch influences to it’s busy coastlines bustling with marinas, resorts, bars and restaurants there’s always something happening on the island. One of the most impressive things about the island for me however was how warm and truly friendly the people were, I wasn’t treated like a ‘tourist’ I was treated like a special guest and I’m already looking forward to my return…While covering the CTO’s State of the Industry Conference in St Martin for TEMPO Networks I caught up with May Ling Chungthe Director of Tourism for the St Maarten Tourist Bureau, to find out what makes St Maarten so special. Hear what May Ling had to say about the dievrsity of the island and why Caribbean women have so much to offer to the region and the world.

The First Annual State of the Industry Conference presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the government of St. Martin, in collaboration with the St. Martin Tourist Office, will take place in the picturesque island paradise of  St. Martin on Wednesday 14th & Saturday 17th September 2011. This first-of-its-kind, high-level conference will take a critical look at the state of the Caribbean tourism industry and will examine ways to beat the global recession. The keynote address will be delivered by Keith Williams, the chief executive officer of British Airways. The conferecne programmes also include a series of media briefings with CTO Member Countries during which Ministers and Directors of Tourism will discuss what’s new in their respective countries. While the issues of  Global tourism will be addressed, tourism officials from the public and private sectors, led by a variety of experts, will tackle a number of critical issues including overcoming the hurdles to intra-regional travel, how to use limited resources to the greatest advantage, how to influence the affluent travellers and being truly competitive.  The state of the industry is not only about challenge, it’s also about opportunity. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Caribbean Tourism Organization for this year’s Caribbean Week New York coverage on TEMPO Networks and I’m looking forward to covering this dynamc conference in St Martin as Caribbean tourism leaders unite and collaborate for the region’s greatest good.
